Güleç: We Are Ready for the Next Decade
Reflecting on the momentum gained during MOSFED’s 10-year journey, President Ahmet Güleç said, ““In our Ordinary General Assembly, we share the pride of the 10 years we have left behind and the excitement of our goals for the ‘next decade.’ Together, we have crafted a success story that stretches from technology to design, from sustainable growth to a global vision. By 2028, we aim to capture a 3% share of global furniture trade, reaching 1 billion people. Today, we are shaping the future together because we are ready for the next decade!” Güleç also highlighted the federation’s efforts to ease challenges faced by producers in difficult conditions, adding, “We aim to grow through design and innovation. We held world-class events, including the Istanbul Furniture Fair and Furnishings & Design Istanbul. We have taken and will keep taking strong steps to ensure Turkish furniture earns the recognition it deserves on the global stage.”
A Strong Role in Local and Global Markets
Representing 15 member associations and over 45,000 manufacturers across Türkiye, MOSFED plays a unifying role locally while pioneering projects in global markets. The federation continues to elevate Turkish furniture on the international stage. Emphasizing the sector’s progress in export and production, Güleç stated: “In the past decade, we as the industry, have come such a long way in the past 10 years that we have become one of the four furniture countries in the world that can manufacture in all categories and the seventh largest furniture exporter in the world. This success is driven by our strategic goals, high adaptability, over 45,000 manufacturers, and nearly 500,000 employees. In the last 10 years, we have stood up and become a producer that attracts attention in the world. This proves us that if we fully realize our potential, our impact in the world will grow even more. However, we need to identify our solutions clearly, devising solutions, and implementing them decisively.”
“Türkiye’s manufacturing power is key to our economy”
Güleç outlined the key issues hindering the growth of the Turkish furniture sector and its global competitiveness: “Access to financing, high-interest rates,” “informality,” “branding and international marketing,” and “environmentally-friendly production and sustainability“, and underlined that the sector has not backed down in the face of challenges. Stating that the ten-year success story is the most tangible indicator of this determination, Ahmet Güleç said that we should make more efforts in order to make this success story sustainable and to make the Turkish furniture industry a “trend-setting” leader on a global scale. Türkiye’s manufacturing power is key to our economy. Therefore, solving industrial challenges is critical not only for the furniture sector but also for our nation’s broader development. By working together, there is no goal we cannot achieve. I firmly believe that once we unlock our industry’s full potential, we will rank among the top in the global market.”
“The Goal is to Be Among the Top Five”
TİM President Mustafa Gültepe said, “I congratulate Mr. Ahmet and the board of directors who were re-elected in the general assembly and wish them success. Production and exports are the driving forces of our economy, and the furniture sector makes us proud with its contributions. In 11 months, we achieved $4.135 billion in furniture exports. Our target is to reach $12 billion in exports by 2028, securing a 3% share of the global market. We have the potential. Türkiye is a leader in furniture production and runs a trade surplus. We are one of the 4 countries that can produce in all furniture groups. With exports to over 200 countries and regions, nearly 20,000 companies have participated in furniture exports this year. Yes, we have a lot of pros in furniture. However, we are not yet where we want to be in global markets. Currently, we are the world’s seventh-largest furniture exporter. Our goal is to be among the top five.”
