The International Istanbul Furniture Fair (IIFF 2025), one of the three most prestigious global gatherings in the furniture industry, set a new record by hosting over 150.000 visitors from 170 countries. Participations from Iraq and the United States increased between 90% to 102%, while attendance from Gulf countries, Central Asia, and North Africa recorded notable double-digit growth rates.
MOSFED President Ahmet Güleç stated that the Turkish furniture industry engaged in extensive discussions with foreign buyers at the fair and expressed expectations of closing over $3 billion in new business agreements throughout the year. Organized by the Federation of Furniture Associatons (MOSFED), the fair was held across 25 halls at Tüyap Fair Center and Istanbul Expo Center (IFM), covering a total area of 250.000 square meters and featuring over 3000 brands.
The International Istanbul Furniture Fair (IIFF 2025), which brings together the global furniture industry in Istanbul and ranks among the top three most prestigious international furniture gatherings, attracted significant interest from around the world this year as well. The fair, which was held simultaneously at the Tüyap Fair Center and Istanbul Expo Center, hosted more than 3000 brands from many countries, e.g., Turkey, Germany, America, China, Italy, Kazakhstan, Singapore, and Russia. The fair hosted more than 150.000 domestic and foreign visitors from 170 countries, while also bringing an innovative approach to the visitor experience. The fair, where design trends prevailed, elevated the visitor experience to a higher level with its renewed website, IIFF mobile application, and internationally-focused marketing strategies, while further increasing its contribution to export activities.
The goal is to reach $12 billion in exports by 2030
Ahmet Güleç, the President of the Federation of Furniture Associations (MOSFED) which is the organizer and host of the fair, explained the benefits of the organization to the industry as follows: “Turkish furniture is writing a global success story, and the IIFF International Istanbul Furniture Fair plays a significant role in this achievement. Each year, IIFF increases its added value to the industry, becoming not only one of Turkey’s but also one of the world’s most strategic furniture trade organizations.mThis year, the fair, which hosted over 150.000 domestic and international visitors from 170 countries and welcomed 3,000 brands, once again showcased the Turkish furniture industry on the global stage. Thanks to the connections made at the highly productive IIFF 2025, our manufacturers are expected to close business deals exceeding $3 billion, spread throughout the year. The new collaborations facilitated by the fair will significantly contribute to our journey towards achieving the $12 billion export goal we have set for 2030. By 2030, we aim to have 1 billion consumers worldwide using Turkish furniture.”
2025 Has Started Well for Turkish Manufacturers
Ahmet Güleç stated that the fair hosted visitors from 150 countries in 2024, and this year the number has increased to 170, adding the following: “When we look at the country-based breakdown of foreign buyers, the significant increases compared to 2024 once again demonstrate how well we are doing our job. Notably, there was a 102% increase in the number of visitors from Iraq, a Middle Eastern country, compared to the previous year. The U.S. stood out with a 90% growth, while markets such as the Gulf region, Central Asia, and North Africa also saw double-digit growth rates, further boosting international interest in the fair. The increase in visitors from Europe, Asia, and Africa highlights that the Istanbul Furniture Fair is becoming an increasingly strategic meeting point for the global furniture industry.”
The Turkish furniture industry is growing through design and innovation.
MOSFED President Ahmet Güleç emphasized that Turkey has become a global player with its design and innovation power, stating, “Our industry, which has written a great success story over the last 10 years, has increased its share in global furniture exports from 0.3% to 2%. As of 2024, we have raised our export value per kilogram to $3.57, and we aim to increase this to $6 in the future. “Our export goal for 2025 is $5 billion. Today, we export to 213 countries, generating an annual trade surplus of $4 billion, and over the past 10 years, we have achieved a total trade surplus exceeding $40 billion,” he said, highlighting that the localization rate of the industry reaching 80% is one of the leading indicators of sustainable growth.
Visitor experience-focused innovations have increased participation.
The IIFF International Istanbul Furniture Fair stood out not only for its industrial collaborations but also for its visitor experience-focused innovations. The new website and international marketing strategies made the fair more accessible, especially for international participants. The IIFF mobile app offered significant conveniences for visitors at the fairgrounds, while the online ticket service accelerated the entry processes to the fair.IIFF 2025 not only aimed to expand the sector’s global trade volume but also enhanced the visitor experience with its digital conveniences, ensuring a comfortable and efficient fair experience.
