Furnishings & Design Istanbul (FDI) has rapidly become a strong international attraction by bringing together the production power of the Turkish furniture and interior design industry with a clear design vision, a curated structure, and a qualified trade approach. FDI is preparing to open its doors for the third time on 24–26 September 2026.
Organized by the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED), FDI will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center, offering its participants a design-driven vision, a selective platform, high-quality trade opportunities, and global visibility.
In its previous edition, the design fair hosted more than 100 brands and welcomed a total of 26,873 visitors, including 1,670 international visitors from 38 countries. This year as well, FDI aims to connect Türkiye’s production and design capabilities with the global trade network.
Türkiye’s furniture sector continues to strengthen its international visibility not only through its robust production infrastructure and export volume, but also through its growing design vision. Organized by MOSFED to contribute to the development of this vision, Furnishings & Design Istanbul (FDI) enables participants to connect with the right audience, establish qualified business relationships, and gain prestigious, design-focused visibility.
In addition to curated product showcase areas featuring design-led collections, the fair will highlight FDI Stage & Talks, the Designer-to-Business (D2B) Program, Design Circle, New Horizon, FDI Lounge, as well as exhibition and installation areas. These multi-layered experience zones will allow brands to communicate their stories powerfully and effectively through different formats.
“Every piece of furniture carries a story beyond its function”
Stating that FDI Istanbul brings together manufacturers from Türkiye and around the world through carefully defined design criteria and a strong trade structure, MOSFED President Ahmet Güleç emphasized that the fair makes the sector’s strategic and cultural strength visible.
Underlining that design is not merely a form, but a mindset, a strategy, and a way of life, Ahmet Güleç shared the following remarks:
“This approach integrates spaces with meaning while giving brands a distinctive identity. At this point, not only furniture but all products and services within the interior ecosystem carry a story and cultural value beyond their function. Furnishings & Design Istanbul is not merely a trade fair; it is a platform where design, commerce, sustainability, and cultural vision converge on the same ground.”
Design vision, selective platform, qualified trade, and global visibility
Noting that the fair created a strong impact in its first two editions, Ahmet Güleç continued:
“We operate with the belief that design is not limited to form alone but is fundamentally a matter of mindset. We bring together selected brands through a curatorial filter and a qualified trade model. In this respect, FDI is not just a fair; it is an idea platform where design shapes the future. Here, not only products are exhibited—ideas are debated, but brands are also positioned, and markets are shaped.
For this reason, we structure our fair around the axes of design vision, selective platform, qualified trade, and global visibility. Last year, we welcomed 26,873 visitors, including 1,670 international visitors from 38 countries. With more than 100 brands, over 150 D2B meetings, 9 panels, and more than 40 speakers, we took the pulse of the industry.
This year, we are building our vision on the themes of a qualified brand ecosystem, intellectual leadership in design, collaboration and connectivity, regional reference, and global visibility.”
The future design ecosystem is constructed at FDI
This year, FDI will inspire its visitors with a wide-ranging content spectrum extending from sustainability to innovation, and from design to new production models. Through FDI Stage & Talks, all contributors to furniture and interior design will come together on a shared platform. Expert speakers will offer insights into design, innovation, sustainability, and the future of the industry.
Curated areas such as Design Circle and New Horizon Exhibition will showcase works by designers from different disciplines, positioning design not only as an aesthetic element, but also as an intellectual field.
The Designer-to-Business (D2B) Program will function as a networking platform that supports qualified collaborations between designers, brands, manufacturers, and creative professionals. FDI Lounge will provide an environment where industry stakeholders can connect and interact in a more close-knit and informal setting.
The Design Committee defines FDI’s distinctive perspective
One of the strongest structural pillars of FDI Istanbul is its Design Committee, composed of respected figures in their fields. Bringing together leading industry representatives and academics in Türkiye, the committee represents the selective mindset behind the fair’s up-to-date and high-quality content.
By defining the content framework, selection logic, and design focus, the committee also strengthens the integrity of the program.
Chaired by academic and industrial designer Alpay Er, this year’s Design Committee comprises interior architect and designer Ahmet Raşit Karaaslan, architect Aynur Yılmaz, senior interior architect Cem Cemal Çobanoğlu, strategic content advisor Cengiz Ayyıldız, industrial designer and interior architect Ece Yalım, designer, curator, and educator Erdem Akan, and industrial designer Şule Koç
