Furniture Sector will not increase its prices until the end of the year within the scope of Fight Against Inflation

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat

The furniture sector has voiced its support for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Trade Minister Ömer Bolat’s initiative to combat inflation and rising living expenses. The Federation of Furniture Associations (MOSFED), along with its 15 member associations, declared that it will refrain from raising furniture retail prices until the year’s end.

MOSFED, the overarching body of the furniture sector, a vital component of the Turkish economy with over 45,000 manufacturers, 50,000 stores, and nearly 500,000 employees, has released a collective statement in collaboration with its member associations. The declaration, endorsed by MOSFED President Ahmet Güleç, highlights the full backing of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat’s efforts to combat inflation and rising living expenses. The statement contains the following remarks:

“The furniture sector, establishing a vast and vibrant ecosystem comprising over 45,000 manufacturers, 50,000 stores, and almost 500,000 employees distributed nationwide, represents a business domain that is predominantly domestic and national, constituting 80 percent of its entirety. Over the past two decades, our industry has yielded a foreign trade surplus of $24 billion and has dutifully fulfilled its obligations to foster the development of our nation. Presently, we stand prepared to once again shoulder our responsibilities for the betterment of our country.”

In collaboration with our affiliated associations ANMODER, ANSİMOD, EGEMOB, ESMOS, İMOS, KAYMOS, MAKSDER, MOBDER, MOBİD, MOBSAD, MOSDER, MOSİAD, MUDER, OMSAD, and OMSİAD, as MOSFED, the overarching body of the furniture sector, we wish to publicly declare our endorsement of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s appeal to combat inflation and the rising cost of living.

In accordance with our collective resolution, there will be no upward adjustments in the retail prices of furniture across all categories until the year’s end. Our stance aligns with efforts to address inflation and alleviate the financial strain on individuals preparing for marriage or contemplating home renovations. Upholding our commitment, we will persist in our efforts to craft nurturing and aesthetically pleasing living environments, fostering cherished memories for our communities, both now and in the future.
