Turkish furniture dealers united forces with “Mos Fairs”.
Drawing attention to its production power of 12 billion dollars, exporting to 200 countries, and being the 8th largest exporter in the world, the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED), the umbrella organization of the Turkish furniture industry, continued its innovations in the sector and established its own fair company. MOS Fuarcılık, which was established to arrange organizations that will spread the power of the Turkish furniture industry to the whole world and increase the trade volume, is expected to create a business connection of 1 billion dollars with the first organization to be held in January 2021. MOSFED Board chairman Ahmet Güleç said, “The Turkish furniture industry has a share of 1.5 percent in the world furniture market. Our goal is to increase this to 2.5 percent in the first place. The Turkish furniture industry has strong production and design power. Our aim to establish our own fair company is exactly to make this more visible and to create new connections.” he said.
The furniture industry, which brought Turkey to 8th place among the furniture exporters of the world with a production power of 12 billion dollars, broke new ground. The sector, which has spread all over Turkey with its 36 thousand manufacturers, established MOS Fair Organization through the umbrella organization Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED) and carried the promotional organizations to its structure. Making a statement on the subject, MOSFED Board chairman Ahmet Güleç said, “The Turkish furniture industry is at a significant point in the world with its design and production power. We already have a 1.5 percent share of the world furniture market, and our goal is to increase this to 2.5 percent in the first place. MOS Fair Organization is an expert in furniture and was established with the vision of contributing to the development and presentation of the sector. Promotional organizations and fairs continue to be special areas to catch new business connections. We will carry out our expertise here with MOS Fair Organization much more efficiently and target-oriented. Despite the pandemic, we are one of the few industries that continues to grow in line with its 2020 targets, and we want to make a much stronger start to 2021. MOS Fair Organization is in a position to undertake important tasks at this point. We will organize our International Istanbul Furniture Fair, which we have been holding traditionally for 16 years, in two different exhibition centers simultaneously, in line with the new normal, in January 2021. Our fair, which is visited by 150 thousand people, 50 thousand of whom are foreigners on average, will be held simultaneously this year at Istanbul Tuyap Fair and Congress Center and Yesilkoy Istanbul Fair Center. We continue to work on creating a system for people to come safely, and physical distance and hygiene conditions are fully implemented.”
The furniture industry will continue physical and virtual fairs
Adding that the furniture industry is one of the areas most open to competition, Güleç continued his speech as follows: “The thing that will bring you to the fore is promotional activities. We believe that the MOS Fair, shaped by the expertise of our sector, will open important opportunities and doors here. In the fairs we will organize, the placement will be formed according to the field of expertise. We will divide it into two categories. In our first category; we will distinguish between office, kitchen, home, modern and classic. In the second, we will classify them according to the areas addressed by our customers as economic, medium, and high. It will be both a vertical classification and a segmentation.” Stating that virtual fairs have become significant in addition to physical fairs, Güleç noted that they organized a virtual furniture fair under the name of Furnistry 2020 between 27-30 July and that the feedback of the organization, in which 50 Turkish brands participated, created a great motivation to carry out a bigger one.
‘We have taken all our measures for Covid-19’
Emphasizing that all measures will be taken against Covid-19 at the fair to be held in Istanbul for the first time, Ahmet Güleç made the following statements: “We will take the measures at the highest level at our fairs. Our guests from all over the world will be welcomed the best way. We have to show how sensitive and cautious our country is about hygiene. The rules of our ministry of health, social distance, mask, and hygiene rules, will be followed.
In 2021, we anticipate returning to the new normal life without ignoring masks, social distance, and hygiene conditions. We expect countries to take the necessary precautions and bring vitality to the market again.”
